Justin Bieber Concert in Salt Lake City, Utah Highlights

Justin Bieber stopped in Salt Lake City for his “Purpose” Tour last Saturday. The entire concert was sold out with an occasional scalper here and there giving a few lucky fans the chance to see Bieber in person. The Introduction to the concert can be found here.

Thousands of excited Justin Bieber “Belieber’s” filled the Vivint Smart Home Arena to see Bieber. If you are wondering what a true Belieber is than here is your answer from the urban dictionary:

  1. Belieber– One who is an obsessive fan of Justin Bieber.
Sentence: Once I saw his face, I was a Belieber.
     2. Belieber– A person who loves Justin Bieber and Beliebes in everything that he can do.

Sentence: I am a Belieber because I respect Justin Bieber and I believe in him.
      3. Belieber– Belieber is a HUGE Justin Bieber’s fan. Fan and Belieber is really different, Fan will leave him just because a little thing, but Belieber is not going to leave him even though the biggest thing that can break a relationship.
      4. Belieber-A ‘Belieber’ is a fan girl of teeny bopper sensation Justin Bieber. They are usually between the age of 10-15. A lot of them spend most of their life on Twitter where they:
Tweet about how much they love Justin Bieber
Shout-out other ‘beliebers’
-Use a lot of tags like #ifollowback or #teamfollowback.

Other twitter users who are not beliebers (and/or above the age of 15) get rather annoyed by the insane amount of ‘beliebers’ on Twitter and counter act with tags like #Justinbeibersucks.

Beliebers are also well known for fainting at Justin Bieber concerts/appearances. They are also well known for covering their room and school books with pictures of Justin Bieber.

Highlights of the concert can be found here.

Kanye’s “Life of Pablo” is now available on Spotify and Apple Music

Kanye the “Kan” Artist

Originally, Kanye West had announced that the much anticipated album, The Life of Pablo , would be exclusively available on Tidal. Guess not. The new album is now available on Spotify and Apple Music. This is not an April Fools Joke!

Kanye’s plan, with the con of lots of criticism, worked well, as he was able to get 250 million streams on Tidal in the first 10 days of its release as customers thought it was the only way to get the album. Thus, Kanye sold his album for an expensive price getting new subscribers to Tidal before announcing today that he would release the album to the public. Not a bad business plan if you ask me. Not the best reputation builder though either.

Drake-“Controlla” featuring Popcaan and “These Days” Leaked

Two of Drake’s songs that will be in his future album, Views From the Six, titled “Controlla” and “These Days” have been leaked to the public this morning. Views From the Six is the most anticipated album to be planned to release to the public this Summer ’16.

Drake’s-“Controlla”featuring Popcaan is a down-tempo Caribbean jam. Drake uses a very subtle amount of Auto-Tune as he sings for a girl who attempts to control him by playing games. Nonetheless, we get a good feel for the song’s island-influenced 808’s and simple keyboard melody. Song can be found here.

Drake’s-“These Days”is a pop song that is a cover of Jackson Browne’s song “These Days”.

Fun Fact about Drake: His real name is Aubrey Graham.

Kanye West: U.S. President 2020?

Kanye West for President of the United States?

Kanye West’s career trajectory has always been full of the audacious, the memorable, and the newsworthy. His announcement of a presidential bid in 2020 at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards on August 30 was all three, and whether the plan ever comes to be executed, the idea of a Kanye West presidency is the source of excited conversation and conjecture that is beginning to blend the world of Hip-Hop and politics in a way that seeps into other aspects of popular culture.

New Yorker magazine, the 91-year old rag considered by many to the quintessential publication for the cultured and political, has ventured into uncharted territory, making Kanye West the boldest representation of Hip-Hop in its history. The issue last September 14th, features a political cartoon starring Yeezy as not a rapper but a politician deeply entrenched with American political history.

That’s because the cartoon is a joke within a joke, a replica of a historic photograph taken in 1948. In the photograph, President Truman was seen holding up November 3’s Chicago Daily Tribune, which erroneously reported that New York Governor Thomas E. Dewey had defeated the incumbent Truman, marking one of the newspaper’s biggest gaffes in its history (and any newspaper, for that matter).

In the 2015 version created by Barry Blitt, Kanye West is Truman, and the paper’s headline reads “Trump Defeats Kanye,” opting for the rapper’s first name. Because Kanye. The tongue-in-cheek choice for cover artwork by the New Yorker speaks not only to ‘Ye’s status as a pop culture giant, but also to Hip-Hop’s; the music aside, its influence in American politics has always been an important element, but it has certainly edged its way into the forefront as of late.

Kanye West’s image is now forever entwined with one of the most iconic images in history. And it’s not even 2020 yet.

Drake Announces “Views From The 6″Album Release Date

Although Drake didn’t share a specific release date for Views From The 6, he did announce that his much-anticipated project will in fact be released in April.

Yesterday (March 15), Drake uploaded a picture of a Views From The 6 billboard, and added the follow caption: “APRIL”.

This week’s announcement comes months after Drake rapped about possibly dropping Views From the 6 in January, on his “30 for 30 Freestyle.”

“But just know it’ll be January in no time,” Drake rapped on “30 For 30 Freestyle,” which was released last September.

Although an updated released date for Views From The 6 was just released, details on the album have continuously been offered thanks to those who have lent their assistance on the project or have ties to Drake.

We’ve seen billboards that hinted at an April release, but this is the first time we have anything official from Champagne Papi himself. Of course, we still don’t know WHEN in April the album drops, but we’ll have to be happy with what we get. It might be sooner rather than later, because Drake isn’t even living in the studio or anywhere in Toronto right now – he appeared last night as a gust during Rihanna’s Anti Tour, in Miami.

“I Love J.Cole”-Barack Obama

Barack Obama during his speech admitted his admiration for rapper, J. Cole, who performed at the Democratic National Committee Show on March 11th. On Twitter, Barack Obama wrote, “I Love J.Cole!” and explained, “You know, this is the benefit of having teenage daughters. I actually keep up.”

Obama also revealed that he was able to speak with Cole’s mother and grandmother before the event.

During his performance of “Be Free” on the Late Show with David Letterman in December 2014, J. Cole was somewhat critical of Obama’s Presidency.

“No disrespect in terms of change I haven’t seen any / Maybe he had good intentions but was stifled by the system / And was sad to learn he actually couldn’t bring any,” J. Cole rapped.

It has been shown that Barack Obama openly received the criticism and even has shown gratitude for J. Cole’s powerful and meaningful lyrics.

Throughout his tenure as President, Barack Obama has voiced his appreciation for a variety of Hip Hop artists, Kendrick Lamar being a notable example. During an interview with People last December, Obama named K. Dot’s “How Much A Dollar Cost” from To Pimp A Butterfly as his favorite song of 2015.

Last October, Kendrick Lamar paid a visit to the Oval Office as part of the “Pay It Forward” initiative that promoted mentoring youth across the country.

More recently, Obama was asked his opinion on the potential winner should Kendrick Lamar and Drake ever square off in a Rap battle.

“You gotta go with Kendrick,” President Obama told YouTube star sWooZie. “I’m just saying. I think Drake is an outstanding entertainer, but Kendrick…his lyrics. His last album [To Pimp A Butterfly] was outstanding. Best album I think [that came out] last year.”

Saturday Night Live: Kanye’s “Ultra Light Beam”

Kanye West’s new song, “Ultra Light Beam”, along with his new album, The Life of Pablo, are hits and can be easy considered some of Kanye’s best music, and may be in consideration for one of the best released rap albums in history. Kanye West will battle Kendrick Lamar’s album, “To Pimp a Butterfly”, as the best rap album of the last couple decades. The controversy, however, never seems to be about whether or not Kanye has produced quality music, it happens to always be about how he introduces his music. Kanye West constantly receives criticism for his struggle with monogamy, his sometimes outrageous arrogance, and his lack of skill in the field of business. Kanye West, as described in his hit single, “Ultra Light Beam”, believes that he lives in a ‘God Dream’ and that he is more superior and influential than anyone else on the planet. His lack of humility and uncontrollable arrogance has tainted Kanye West’s reputation in music. In addition, for his new album, The Life of Pablo, Kanye West decided to make it limited and only available on Tidal for purchase. In the digital age, this was a HUGE mistake as the music has now been illegally downloaded over 1/2 million times as consumers don’t want to use Tidal. Thus, although Tidal has gained significant popularity, Kanye has lost tons of money as consumers have illegally taken his album for free. With this backfire in his plan, Kanye is looked at by the public as a fool. He is now in debt somehow despite his popular music. Can Yeezy make things right? I don’t know. He is a god apparently.
